ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says Turkey will choose in a submission whether to keep seeking after enrollment in the European Union.
In a meeting Monday on India TV, Erdogan blamed the EU for not being “genuine or legit” and of making Turkey hold up at its entryways.
Erdogan stated: “Turkey will pick the following way of a Brexit-like submission.”
Turkey, a Muslim-larger part country that straddles the Bosporus, started EU enrollment transactions in 2005 however talks have gained little ground.
Ties with EU countries soured before a divisive Turkish choice in April on extending presidential forces, with Erdogan voicing unforgiving feedback of a few EU countries.
The EU said this end of the week that Turkey must give clearer motions on whether it expects to meet EU criteria on human rights and the run of law.
